A parent to children and pets alike, Roxanne is always at the top of her game when it comes to providing what's best for all her babies. Their happiness and well-being are always her topmost priority.

The pandemic abruptly showed up amid everyone’s busy life and just like the rest of the world, she found herself confined in her home for days, weeks, and eventually, months.

Little did she know, she was about to discover (as a fur parent) something that had been right in front of her eyes all along.

Before lockdown
Pre-pandemic, her adorable furry family members would spend most of their time downstairs waiting for her to come home from the office.

She would find them adorably huddled together dozing off. She didn’t really give much thought to their adorable formations back then.

During lockdown
Being at home 24/7, the three pooches would follow her around the house.
Living room? All present. Office? Right behind you. Bedroom? Here we go.

As months went by, she started to take notice of her dogs’ varying sleeping positions. These positions piqued her interest and eventually shed light on what her dogs were feeling.

The three dogs and the meaning behind their sleeping positions

1. Lulu the Curler

Lulu, a brown chihuahua, loves to curl up like a donut with her nose touching her tail. Curling up means she seeks to protect herself during slumber. This position also helps her regulate her body temperature.

The best type of bed for curlers would be one that has a more rounded or curved back shape which nourishes their innate need to feel protected.

Lulu’s sleeping position inspired the Lulu Bed which is precisely what a curler like her needs.

2. Daisy the Leaner

Daisy, a white chihuahua, finds it comfortable to rest her head on armrests or ledges.

She likes to sleep in this position because she trusts her environment, family, and other household pets. She goes to sleep feeling safe and secure and expects to wake up the same way.

A dog bed with extra cushioned arms is the best choice for leaners to rest their head on.

The Daisy Bed is inspired by Daisy herself and it is absolutely what leaners long for.

3. Bailey the Stretcher

Bailey, a half Shih Tzu half Chihuahua senior dog, typically sleeps on her side or with her belly up.

She usually rolls up exposing her belly when she’s gotten warm while sleeping. This position allows her body to cool down.

It is important to choose a dog bed with extra length across the front since stretchers require ample space.

The Bailey Bed essentially furnishes the length that stretchers like Bailey desire.

Why our pets need a bed

According to studies, dogs spend half their day sleeping while cats spend two-thirds. With this length of time spent dozing off, it is of utmost importance for every pet parent to ensure that their pets have comfortable beds, taking into account their sleeping positions.

Simply put, our pets need a bed because it’s where they spend most of their time. If we hoomans need a bed for approximately 8 hours of sleep daily, how much more do our pets who sleep longer?

In addition, senior dogs need beds with the right foam density for their aching joints. Take Bailey for example. She’s a senior dog who particularly prefers to keep herself cool. She used to sleep on the cold tiled floor whenever the AC was not turned on.

Sleeping on hard floors is the opposite of beneficial for senior dogs. Doing so would only worsen their sore joints.

In Bailey’s situation, the Bailey Bed is the excellent choice because she can freely stretch out or roll up and the cushion* is neither too soft nor too firm for her aching joints.

(*All Posh Paws beds are created with top-quality dense cushions. This feature is not exclusive to Bailey Bed.)

The birth of a luxurious idea

Upon learning her pets’ varying sleeping positions and respective meanings, Roxanne knew exactly what to do: look for the right dog bed! But looking for the right dog bed in the Philippines was no easy feat back then.

She has spent a fortune on dog beds only to find out they’re not made to last. She would buy one after another but all ended up torn apart, flattened out, or sank to the ground. What's more disheartening is that the beds would smell unpleasant even after washing. She had to throw all the dog beds out!

Having had a fair share of dreadful experiences with dog beds that ultimately ceased to serve their purpose, the idea of creating luxury pet beds came into existence.

These luxury pet beds are not just made for cozy snoozing, but also as stylish pet spaces that would complement every pet parent’s beautiful home interior.

These pieces of majestic pet furniture can bring any room up a notch compared to random floor pet beds that don’t fit in with the home interior and would only end up in the trash.

The Posh Paws mission

With all the thrown-out dog beds and the new knowledge of the meaning behind her dogs’ sleeping positions, Roxanne has made it her mission to ensure that her pets are provided with the ideal beds that can accommodate their varying needs – a mission she never thought she would embark on. All because of the pandemic.

Likewise, she aims to make all pet parents aware of how crucial choosing the right dog bed is. Moreover, she wants every pet parent to factor in the durability, washability, and overall benefit for their pets’ well-being when making a decision. Exactly why all these features are present in all Posh Paws luxury beds.

As one of the first luxury brands of dog beds and cat beds in the Philippines, Posh Paws aims to help fur parents make the smart choice by investing in pet beds that guarantee longevity and have all the essential features, rather than spending money on pet beds that only end up in the trash one after another.

At the end of the day, every fur parent like Roxanne only wants what’s best for their fur babies. Therefore, pet beds should not be considered an afterthought rather these should be considered essentials for our four-legged family members.
